This time he is writing a series about young teens battling it out ala Hunger Games. According to the LA Times:
"In a world similar to Earth, there are 12 bloodlines, or races. Each bloodline has a champion between the ages of 13 and 17 who is trained as a warrior and is always ready to do battle. When they turn 18, the teen warrior behind them gets promoted. This has been the case for hundreds of years, but no one remembers why — they’re always ready for some sort of battle to take place, but it never does. But the tradition continues. And then one day they’re called to fight, and all the bloodlines but the but the winners will be exterminated. They’re fighting to be the last race."
This is pretty depressing that a publisher and a movie studio have signed up for this which is obviously such a ridiculous direct rip off - especially by someone of Frey's reputation such as lying about his memoirs and his book packaging company that rips off his authors. Even though Collins' premise is not original and borrowed a lot of ideas especially with books/movies like Battle Royale but at least she made her own twists to these tropes. I hope the trend YA dystopian trend especially with this premise dies and his book/movie flops harder than a Parasite Hilton album.
